GLOWING GREEN SMOOTHIE

From The Beauty Detox Foods, by Kimberly Synder, C.N.

2 cups very cold filtered water

7 cups chopped spinach

6 cups chopped red chard

1½ cups chopped celery

1 apple, cored and chopped

1 pear, cored and chopped

1 banana

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

3–4 ice cubes, depending on your preference

Add the ingredients + blend.

(I love my Breville Blender. There’s even a button that says green smoothie! It is also self-cleaning!)

Be creative. When I make the above recipe I have enough Glowing Green for three days. Store in an airtight container and be delighted when it’s ready to drink just when you are craving something nutritious and delicious as an afternoon pick-me-up!

VEGAN PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

3 scoops Solgar Spoonfuls (I love the Vanilla Chai flavor)

1 cup fresh almond milk (Make your own, or I highly recommend Berbers—just almonds and water.)

½-–1 cup fresh fruit (I love raspberries or strawberries.)

3–5 ice cubes

Blend and enjoy.

I eat my smoothies, which means I do not gulp. I take time to savor the fortifying beverage. You are consuming 20 grams of plant protein while fueling your body with all of the essential vitamins and minerals to live a supercharged day.

I never enjoyed smoothies until I began preparing the above recipes. To me, smoothies were empty calories that left me feeling hungry and unsatiated. Perhaps my newfound appreciation is a result of my plant-based diet, or these low-sugar, highly nutritious recipes. Let me know your thoughts!

Have a beautiful day!
